I honestly enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I was surprised to read that it’s more than just a romance like all the movies make it seem. It’s really a story about Jane’s life and the struggle between how she’s supposed to act as a woman of a lower class against her strong will to express herself and her emotions/ sentiments which was considered unbecoming for a woman at that time period.

Wow, what a fun reading experience! I listened to the audio for this reread (alongside a paperback). I like to annotate books, especially classics. This time I found that I was making some new notes but also some of the same - places where the writing or insights caught me a second time. Brontë is genius and I love Jane Eyre. I’m so glad my book club chose this for August. The structure, characters, plot, and writing are brilliant and well done.
