I reread since reading in hs to refresh before I read James but I now feel as though i need to revisit all my fave books from school as an adult.
I don't really know how to rate this book. I understand why this book is so important for the American literary history as it demonstrates the society of that time quite well. It was also interesting to read, because there is one adventure after the other, so it doesn't get boring.
However, I personally didn't like that it is written in a dialect. I know that this is typical for Mark Twain, but it took me a while to get used to the language. Also I thought Tom Sawyer was really annoying at the end when he complicates Jim's rescue and keeps making the situation a lot worse.

I read this because I never had and I wanted to fully appreciate the perspective shift when reading James by Percival Everett.
Graphic: Racial slurs, Racism
Content warning: slavery, much use of the n-word, and some mention of animal cruelty
Not as good as the story of Tom Sawyer, but there was some interesting moments. It really left you with a sense of endless summer.

I read the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in my middle school English class, and while I enjoyed the aspect of reading classic literature, the writing just wasn't for me at the time. In my opinion, I was a bit too young to read this book, which is why I thought it was okay.
