This book certainly requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, but it was a sweet story and I was caught up in it quickly.

Good vacation read. Engaging story although I admit to not being sympathetic to the protagonist. So much left destroyed in his selfish wake that cannot just be attributed to his "affliction." Secondary characters were colorful, complex and entertaining. Recommended.

With the film debut of Benjamin Button I was just sure that I had read the Fitzgerald story of the same name because it sounded so familiar. But I remembered it as being a novel, not a short story. Suddenly my memory has been jogged and I discovered that it Max Tivoli I really have read and enjoyed. You do, of course, have to be willing to suspend your disbelief to accept the premise, but I enjoyed the novel and was sad at the end.

The writing was amazing I just couldn't get past the complete AWFULNESS of the main character. Not even in an interesting way he was just insufferable.
Such a creep under every aspect, I genuinely wanted to stop reading halfway through. Don't talk to me about that "star crossed lovers" shit

Not a 0 because of the writing and not a 2.5 because the second half was slightly more bearable

This book has everything. Class, beauty and a bit of monstrosity. It tells a story of people that are sometimes simply not meant to be.
