Lestat's story is a weak framing device for the more interesting characters' backstories and the very compelling world mythology. He's a secondary character in his own story, but it's fine because I'd rather have Rice keep digging further into the past.
dark slow-paced

Finally I finished!!!! Ok so if it wasn’t for the lat 150 pages, I probably would have given this book three stars. I know this book is important so we can understand Lestat’s origin story and understand him better, it was just sooo boring. It took me forever to get through it, but I breezed through the last 150 pages. I’m glad I finally finished it. I had started this book a couple of years ago and had stopped reading it, but I’m happy I pushed through now. I am excited for the next one and I hope it doesn’t disappoint me. I love the movie because it reminds me of my mom and I know the book will be nothing like it, but I’m excited for it to fill in the blanks for me and give me more!

Well, I think I loved this one even more than the first one! I loved Lestat in this one, loved the story and the rest of the characters, apart from maybe Marius, I thought his story was a little bit boring. Apart from that, I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Lestat said 'I'm not like other girls" and then he proved it <3

I read this as a stand-alone introduction to Anne Rice’s series The Vampire Chronicles
Based on the origins of Lestat, it follows his baby vampire days.. I found this very slow paced, it took me so long to finish as I never felt drawn to picking it up. A very reflective vampire novel, with a morally grey character. A little snobby at times.
