My Life in France tells the story of how Julia Child came to love France and it's food and how this love started her down a career of cookery-bookery and celebrity that she hadn't imagined.

I was delighted by Julia from the first page! She is such a fun story teller and doesn't take herself too seriously. As an expat living abroad, it was fun to read about another person's journey of finding their "spiritual home" as she calls it. I wanted to crawl into the book and sit in Julia's kitchen as she cooked or go on an adventure to the market with her. I wanted to be a guest at one of her & Paul's dinner parties. She seems like the type of person I'd love to know. I was truly sad to reach the end of her book.

I loved how this book enabled me to be in Julia's world and see what she did. I am envious but it was so pleasant. Even in spite of challenges and hardships she has a positive attitude and it inspires me to maintain that within my own life!

I read this book initially more for the France part of it than Julia Child, about whom I didn't know much. But I'm SO glad I read it. She was such a charming, vivacious, intelligent woman! I loved reading about her marriage and the beginnings of her career in food. A lovely book.

Loved this! A beautiful love story of France, food, family, friends, and her ever-charming Paul. Julie had such an amazing zest for life. Her and Paul were a match to aspire to. The France and people they meet their are so beautiful described you can completely picture everything. The food descriptions are mouthwatering. The love shines through and truth is always there which makes you understand Julia more and love her more.

Julia Child’s exuberant personality permeates this engaging memoir. I have a feeling she might not have always been the easiest person but she probably made a fantastic dinner guest (as well as cook). This book also made me want to buy Mastering the Art of French Cooking and try all the recipes.
