I...think they could've pulled this off, but it should've been a little later in the series.

This is like the "22 Short Stories About Springfield" episode where we get little vignettes that are loosely connected to our main storyline.

Which is do-able, but I think it felt like a misstep to have it so early in the story, before we really know the characters, before we have a good grasp on the basics here.

Also, Bendis pulls a John Byrne in Trial of Galactus, showing up and riding a bike around town to do research for a comic. Which was a little "Dafuq!?"

This feels like something you do in issue #245 when you're like, "Um...what if someone was writing a comic IN the comic?"

Bump in the Nailbiter road.

I thought the first three issues in this compendium were fun background but the story did not start advancing till the end of the 8th issue.

3.5* this storyline keeps getting more and more messed up and disturbing as it goes on. I kinda don't want to keep reading but I know I can't stop. It's incredibly gripping but this volume felt a little disjointed with characters seemingly pointlessly appearing but I'm hoping the next volume will give them a little more context. I'm incredibly intrigued to see where this goes but damn it it's gruesome. 😅

Even better than the first volume, focusing on other characters. I don't even mind if the main mystery is still going on. I love the pacing that I don't even notice nothing's really being solved. I also like that one chapter is focused on a comic book writer visiting the town. That little story was great. I can't recommend this series enough.

Not as good as Vol 1 but I’ll try the next Vol.
