This series is going to end up being one of my all time favorites. So fascinating, such rich characters, such huge questions, great narration. This was slow to start but it got SO good and I immediately started the next book. Sad that this series is ending for me soon. I love this universe Dan Simmons has created.

Didn't enjoy this as much as book 2, I'd be lying if I said that I was disappointed to leave behind the pilgrims, however I loved the world building as a result of the plot of the first two books.

Not as good as the prior two books in the series. More of a standard adventure book set in the same universe rather than the genre bending, mind-f@&$!, awesome insanity of the first two books.

Solid three star read. I liked it a lot, but I’m not the biggest fan of the person-telling-the-story-from-the-future thing. Idk, it just takes a way a little of the suspense if I know they’re going to survive lol

The third installment of the Hyperion series has a simpler premise than the first two, but I still found it exciting and engrossing. It has vibes of Fellowship of the Ring; a misfit group of friends traveling together toward a seemingly impossible goal fraught with enemies and danger, but also meeting new friends and allies along the way. I'd find myself itching to pick up the book again while I was at work and there were some juicy end-of-chapter cliffhangers.

While I seriously miss the original cast of characters in the first 2 books, the new ones are just as lovable. I love the dynamics of the trio and Raul's first-person perspective on the events unfolding. I also really like De Soya, he was an interesting and complex character. Not your typical "bad guy."

This installation answered a lot of questions from the first 2 books. Everything from details about The Core to the cruciforms. There are still questions I need answers to... Can't wait to pick up the last book!
