I cannot figure out how to make my "didn't finish" shelf a primary shelf, so I'll say I read this. But I didn't. It was incredibly dense and over my head.
Saying everyone should read this is an understatement. Sacco’s Palestine remains pivotal to understanding the conflict. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

existe um termo que eu particularmente odeio, que é quando dizem que certa obra é "necessária", especialmente porque quase toda vez, a obra em questão nunca é de fato a alcunha que lhe foi dada.
este quadrinho é uma exceção.
apesar da aparentemente simplicidade, o cargo histórico de saber que se tratam de pessoas reais, histórias reais, um povo que até hoje segue vivo, sonhando, resistindo, sangrando, é demais até mesmo para quem se considera mais forte. um dos segmentos logo no começo, da família com as árvores cortadas, é tão devastador pela pura maldade impregnada.
triste que este não tenha toda a visibilidade, justa!, que maus (1986) possui. a palestina continua lutando. a palestina vai ser livre.

Devastating look at Palestine in 1991-92, with an afterward written in January 2024. Had to read in short pieces because even reading a chapter at a time was too bleak, especially in light of the current genocide and suffering in Gaza.

The illustrations in this comic are second to none, even though it is black and white, it is so incredibly detailed, especially when depicting the settings in different scenes. Each panel has so much detail that it must have taken full days to complete. In addition, the other perspective Sacco introduces in this comic helps readers understand different atrocities that have occurred in this area, and brings more understanding of the conflict that we see today. Overall, I really enjoyed this comic and I think it does a good job of bringing more understanding of the conflict to readers.
