A Forgery of Fate by Elizabeth Lim is a new Young Adult fantasy inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Truyan is a con artist trying to keep her and her family afloat. She is talented painter so she forges works to help pay their bills and keep food on their table. The dragon lord offers her a deal in order to pay off her motherās gambling debts.
Dragons, slow-burn, beauty and the beast retelling, under the sea kingdoms, and magic! Yes, please. This was fantastic. I loved every minute of reading this. The ending was so bittersweet and emotional!
I love Tru! She is doing the best she can in such hard circumstances for her family. She knows something is not right with her painting and she takes a deal to save her mom and her sisters.
There is a lot of action, magic, and slow-burn romance. I loved the relationships she built during her time with the dragon lord. He is our beast. Grumpy, brooding, and fearing no one can break this curse. There were a lot of fun twists in this retelling and I enjoyed it so much.

Well written, good world building, it just took a little too long to introduce the LI and I couldnāt get sold on the romance. Really donāt like tropes where the LI withholds all knowledge from the MC, even given Elangās situation. Couldnāt quite believe Tru doing all this at 18 as well
