This book is primarily fantasy, but it also features elements of romance as well. Truyan is trying to keep what family she has together and she's the only one acting somewhat like a responsible adult. That's a difficult burden to bear, especially with two younger siblings dependent on you.

“My heart, my home—they are yours. They always have been.”

Elizabeth Lim, your words are so dear to me.

This was the only book I read in July and I just realized I never came back to review it. As such, this is going to be a very brief, very simple review. All of Elizabeth Lim's books are so important to me, she's one of my favorite authors, and this was one of her best yet. I loved so much about this story.

I can't often get my brain to shut up, so not a lot of books manage to be escapism for me (no fault of their own) but Elizabeth Lim's books have never failed to get me out of my head.

I hope she continues to write her romantic, fairytale-esque books for the rest of time.
