The only part I didn’t love was
Gaari being Elang, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that and it sort of threw me off.

I love Elizabeth Lim's book! They are like classic fairytales that'll make you tear up, so rich with imagination and beauty! And always a spectacular and strong female protagonist. I always love how food plays a role in her books, it's always used to signify family and connection.

I absolutely ADORED this book! It's a Beauty & the Beast retelling along with a few other East Asian core stories that I'm not as familiar with. Instead of loving books, this FMC is an artist. And, yes, she can- and does- read. But that's not as important as her having Sight... that only manifests in her artwork.

I love dragons. And I love even more when I get to read a book featuring non-Western European dragons. Forgery of Fate's lore is deep and the undersea kingdom is so vivid and captivating. Also, there are mermaids.

If you love fairy tales, marriages of convenience, a prickly MMC and a confident, capable FMC or if you loved The Night Ends With Fire, this is for you!

If you're a reader for whom spice must flow, skip this one. It's romantic with the slowest of burns and no smut whatsoever, but some impassioned kisses and declarations and look THEY ARE MEANT TO BE OK?!

If you're looking for an enchanting, whimsical and beautiful YA romantic fantasy then this might definitely be one to pick up.

This was my first Elizabeth Lim read but it won't be my last as the magical writing captured my attention from the beginning and the storyline felt like nothing l've read before.

A Forgery of Fate is often described as an underwater Beauty and the Beast retelling and I can absolutely see why! I loved the main characters, Tru and Elang, as well as the way their stories both interwove and unfolded as the novel went on.

Overall, a truly vibrant and adventurous read!
