This is an absolutely atmosphere read. The plot was just to move you through the setting. Read this book with some sad piano music playing in the background and you have set yourself up for the most perfect rainy day read anyone could ask for.

This was not only the most visually stunning book I’ve ever read, but it was also the most unique stand alone fantasy book I’ve read since Piranesi. Olivia shows us that we choose our home and we can always find our way back to family. Great great book!

I need more of this author. This book has excellent atmosphere and writing, but far too short. After the halfway point, the interesting, action-driven portion of the novel felt rushed, even though the plot initially seemed to be moving slowly. But nonetheless, the story was quite enjoyable.

This was good! It was a quick and easy read for me with some gorgeous illustrations throughout. This is my second V.E. Schwab book (first was Addie LaRue) and I’m wondering if her books are gonna work for me. I love the writing and think it’s beautiful prose, but I don’t connect to the story or the characters very much. I loved that Olivia was mute and relied on sign language and her drawings to communicate, I thought that was nice representation. However, I just wanted more explanations on how and why things were happening in this world and the ending felt a bit rushed.
