I love the story and the writing style. I also really appreciate that when a life altering thing happens to a character, it is actually life altering. Actions and reactions have real consequences for these characters, which is hugely refreshing.

I also love that the different stories seem to breath in a way – they come together, spread apart, come back together, spread apart again, and finally come back together. It makes the story feel more natural and gives more interest for the different perspectives.

I will say that I expected to find out that Tuesday was going to solve her first mystery while solving the main one. I'm both glad and disappointed that she didn't. I think the story works really well the way it was written. But I also would have loved to find out that Abby was actually wrapped up in the greater mystery all along.

I had a very very good time with this book, and I'm excited to read more from this author. I liked the characterizations, I appreciated the backstory, and I could see hanging out with these folks. I felt like the first like 3/4 were slightly stronger than the last quarter, but it felt like an older version of The Westing Game, which I LOVED when I was younger, so that was a very happy little nostalgia.

This seems like a love-it-or-hate-it book, and I fell on the side of love it. The characters were flawed and weird and smart and interesting. I want to send most of them for a few rounds of therapy. I also want some weird and fun magic for everyone to enjoy.

The premise is lovely, and drew me in immediatly, but I found it a bit of a let down.

The writing became repetetive in its metaphores (I don't want to hear any 'mental files rustle' for a while) and there were too many overlapping storylines that were never fully developed. Tuesday was a bit too 'not like other girls' to me to really be sympathetic.

Although the audiobook kept me entertained and I don't regret my time spent with this book, I wouldn't recommed it to a friend.

The book was better in theory than in execution. There were too many side stories that took away from things rather than enhanced.
