This one was good! It’s a cute story about a boy and his family and finding his love for this skunk and finding friends. This is the kind of story about autism that I like and recommend because it’s basically just about this boys life and your just learning about him and his family. It’s not exploitive or to make it seem like it’s not normal.

This review is really bad, I’m just so exhausted and I can’t think. But I recommend the book!

Short review, I am still unsure how to write one for this book. It was good, and I could relate to quite a few things that our MC with autism had. It is quite a first, generally I don't relate so much when I read a book about autism, but Bat was truly written well. However I didn't like how he kept pushing for the skunk. I get that he wants to keep the critter, but it is a wild animal, it should go out in the wild. Not stay in some crammed house. He was obsessed. And that is just not healthy.
I was sad for his sister though, it isn't easy to have a brother with autism, and you can see that at times she has a tough time.

Our school district gave the students this book to read so my daughter and I read it together.
It was such a cute story. I really love the autism representation in the main character and being able to understand how he views the world differently than someone who isn’t neurodivergent. Also, love that Bat’s mom is a vet. I really enjoyed reading this with my kiddo!

The fact that I could relate to this so much made me rethink if I have undiagnosed autism.
