I really enjoyed the character development!

Not all blind reads are as enjoyable as Kuangs' How to End a Love Story. I didn't want to put it down. Kuang wraps up grief, trauma, and loss by writing a story about forgiveness and opening oneself up to love.

In what world is the person I think might be responsible for the death of my sister a potential candidate for romance? I get working with him because you didn't hire him but having sex and keeping the whole scenario a secret from your family? C'mon family breaks up for less and we're supposed to believe in this tortured happily ever after story.
Argh. I wish I could read Helen's memoir or letters to her sister instead.

4.5 stars

I would rate this like a 3.5. It was really cute at some points but also kinda slow and repetitive. I wish there was more growth and relationship building with her parents as that was a huge issue, but turned into nothing? The romance was cute. I feel like she didn’t really hate them in the beginning though. Also there was a lot with her anxiety that never really got addressed. I think there are better books out there. I did listen to it as an audiobook though so maybe it was just a different experience.

Omg to write a dual pov book just to AVOID going into either characters head when they make uncharacteristic decisions? Bold move.
Also the premise is too dark and heavy for what this book is and does not get handled at all well imo
This feels more like a 1.5 and honestly the .5 is probably because hearing "route 22" so often fired all the teenage neurons in my brain

I cannot believe y’all are fangirling over Emily Henry when Yukon Kuang exists. I had SO much more fun reading this book than I have reading any of the Emily Henry books I’ve read.

I really didn’t think I would like this premise but she made it work! I might just have to check out Emily Henry’s adaptations if she’s in the writing room.
