It was pretty good when they were falling for each other and getting together, but then the end was kind of bland and felt like "oh shit well the guy is a healthy partner and we don't have any conflict what can we do?"

"Let's make Pen be a bad guy like we talked about earlier"

"sure that's fine." ... "Wait nevermind" like ?????

I was more interested in Scarlett's swimming career by the end. The end is what knocked it way down for me.

my first ali hazelwood and, okay, i get it now

I'm genuinely obsess with Lukas - may everyone find a partner as loving and supportive as him!! Every aspect of this story was perfection. From the childhood backstories, to the diving mishaps, to the cameos from past-ali books.

I will be sprinting to read ali's entire backlog now 🫡
