I really enjoy this! The first half I this I really enjoyed and related to a lot of the poems or they give me goosebumps. Then there’s was this switch into like a novel and I didn’t really enjoy that it just confused me. The story made sense but not in this setting I felt. Then it went back to poems and I enjoyed those but not as much as the first half. The art work was good as well. This deals with a lot of heavy topics so look up trigger warnings.
Graphic: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Hate crime, Physical abuse, Racism, Rape, Self harm, Sexism, Sexual assault, Violence, Islamophobia, Grief, Religious bigotry, Pregnancy, Gaslighting, Colonisation, Injury/Injury detail, and Deportation

This is the first poetry book I've read. I find I need to read it in chunks, to make sure I'm properly absorbing everything I read. As a Sikh Canadian I really identified with the themes in this book and it made me think and reflect a lot. Will definitely be picking up Jasmin's novel!
Moderate: Alcoholism, Genocide, Mental illness, Physical abuse, Racism, Self harm, Sexual violence, Violence, Xenophobia, and Alcohol
