CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY!

in other words, i was HOOKED. literally read it in one sitting. could not put it down.

i will say, i wish there was more explanation towards the deity? ghost? demon? that Huxley was communicating with. also more info on the characters surrounding Esme. how did the drug cartel/human trafficking play into what Huxley had been doing while searching for Esme? why did Soren adopt the boys? i feel like there could’ve been an extra 100 or so pages towards these kinds of things.

the spice was INSAAANNNEEE. the PIERCINGS?? i’ve been WAITING FOR THIS DAY. and god.. the BONDAGE. so so so good. the scene during the masquerade ball literally had me put it down and take a deep breath a few times because holy SHIT.

seeing Huxley a little more humanized when Esme saw him crying at the piano and the slow descent into this weird loving obsession he had for her… literally addicting.

side note: will we get some more Eli in the next book? 👀 because surely i’m not the only one fawning over him.
