When you don’t know how to control your life, the only way to control it is using fate as guidance. So, this is how our main character Mara Williams, thinks she can control her love life in the hands of the horoscope; reading it every day and looking for clues to find her “perfect” match. So, when a fortune teller tells her that her love is around the corner, she decides to take all the possible steps to find it. But, is what the fortune teller told her or her wishes so strong that make her believe things that aren’t real?
Even if I’ve never been a fate or horoscope believer, but I could understand how Mara feels that all her world is out of her reach and the only way she can feel in control is “controlling” fate. But, as you are well aware, fate is something totally impossible to control, and Mara will have to learn by herself that love is not something that you can plan but something that happens in the moment you least expect it.
I always love how the author, Lizzy Dent, always creates stories with characters that are lost and show the reader how healing is not always something that you can do alone but with the help from the people that surround us. Of course, if we leave them!
This is a story to make you believe in yourself and remember that love is always there if you are really looking.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

I feel like it’s getting boring and annoying. I don’t love the main character and it bothers me that she believes in fortune telling and astrology but uses it to make a guy think she’s his soulmate. What if he really believes in it too? And since she really believes, it feels like she should know better and doesn’t have an excuse. Maybe I’ve overthought it but it’s kinda ruined the book for me ☹️

While it was a little slow for me to get into, I really did like this book.

At first Mara relying on star signs for every day life bothered me. I’m technically a Sagittarius myself, but I’ve never personally believed in them. The more I learned about her character the more I understood and empathized with her.

In a way this was a coping strategy for keeping her heart safe, because the betrayals she endured from her past, and I really saw her.

I found myself identifying with her more, especially the hopeless romantic aspect and not being sure what to choose, thinking you weren’t good enough.

Don’t even get me started on how amazing Ash was. He was just so wonderful to Mara and when he showed the box he made, I swooned. He was so good to her even when she was just looking for her friend.

I loved Samira, ryan, lynn and just the friendships she made and how we got to take this emotional journey with her.

I really loved this book, and I can’t wait to read more Lizzie dent books.

Funny, quirky and incredibly frustrating - However, this made for a compelling read.

Mara is a 30-something who uprooted her life to move to Kent, following her best and only friend. A true believer in horoscopes, Mara bases all her life decisions around the stars. When a clairvoyant tells her she will meet her true love, Mara is instantly enthralled. Is the man she meets the ONE?

This book was very witty with many laugh out loud moments, however I often found myself SCREAMING internally at Mara as she repeatedly makes bad decisions. Her inability to make any kind of decision by herself, her reliance on her best friend and her lack of social skills did grate on me a bit, however the character growth was fantastic, even if it was down to the last few chapters.

Even so, I really enjoyed this book. It was a rom-com that I truly wanted to know the outcome of.

This was a really fun summer read! Ill admit, not as good in my eye as The Summer Job but, this was still a fun read. I enjoyed some of the side plots more than the main one, like her relationship with Charlie. My frustration of some of Mara’s thinking and choices were kind of what held this back for me - the ending also didnt surprise me but I wish there had been a slight twist just to make it feel like I really worked and waited for this ending. Overall, still an enjoyable read!
