I absolutely LOVED this series! Loved everything about it from start to finish. I'm just sorry that this is the last book, although the author wrapped things up fabulously and left very pleased.
This whole series was absolutely terrific paranormal action/suspense. It really did have everything I love in a book in this genre: a smart, capable kick-ass female lead character, plenty of unique interesting world-building, tons of suspense and action with magic, a superb, swoon-worthy male lead, an engaging, well-conceived plot, and most importantly a cheeky sarcastic humour threading through all the books.
I could go on, but since this is the last book in the series, I will just say if you like paranormal action with romance that doesn't overshadow the rest of the story, and a really likable female main character, give this series a try. There are 4 books so it isn't an overwhelming commitment, and these books are really great reads!

Yes I gave this one a 5 Star because I thought it was wrapped up so nicely and I liked the couple of twists throughout. I thought the epilogue was perfect! I’m going to be sad saying goodbye to these characters, they really grew on me and came alive!

I'm going to miss these characters. So much.
This was a fabulous conclusion to the Arcadia Bell series.
Spoiler alert if you haven't read the books

I'm a sucker for amnesia stories. I know some people are annoyed by it because it's an overused trope yadda, yadda, yadda, but I just love what it does for a story. And this wasn't complete amnesia. It was selective and elective amnesia, and I loved how frustrated Lon was by it.
Lon. The only complaint I have about him is he's too perfect. I swoon a little every time he grabs his shotgun. He's so caring and understanding. And his interactions with Cady are awesome. Seriously. Their interactions are what makes both of them seem so realistic.
One thing I thought was interesting: the chapters from Jupe's POV. They sounded just like Jupe. They were written in 3rd person and his POV wasn't ever included in the previous books, so this could have easily NOT worked. In fact, I've been told switching POVs or adding additional POVs late in a book/series is a big no no. I'm so happy that authors can break rules these days! It worked for me, and I'd really, really love to see a book written from his POV.
Excellent job, Jenn!

I came late to this series after reading the author’s Roaring Twenties book, which I loved. I inhaled the first 3 books without any pauses in between and then waited impatiently for this last one. This book picks up immediately after the end of Binding the Shadows where Arcadia Bell is pregnant and Lon has to figure out how to save her and the baby from Cady’s horrible mother who seems to have come back from the dead. Literally. This was an excellent end to the series and was filled with the paranormal adventure and humor the series has had a flair for the whole time.
Lon and Cady are dealing with more than ever this time, trying to protect their unborn baby from Cady’s mother yet their love for each other still shows through which is something I really loved to see. While Lon has to perform a forgetting spell on Cady it was fun to see Cady have to figure out who Lon is and why he seems familiar to her. Watching them fall in love all over was a nice touch to get to see in the last book and a nod to the first book when they first fell in love.
Jupe provides the comic relief in the book like he has for all four books. I love Jupe and I’ve enjoyed watching him grow up throughout the series. There are a few short chapters told from his point of view thrown into the book and surprisingly they worked for me. I’m usually not a fan of different POV’s within books, especially if they are not consistent. But I really enjoyed hearing his voice so strongly. I had enjoyed Priya in the previous books but I really disliked him in this one as I felt that he took advantage of Jupe’s emotions a few times.
Overall, the plot shines through in this one and is the star of the book. I was anxious throughout to see how it would end. I thought this book was a fantastic end to this fun and dramatic series. I love epilogues and Jenn Bennett didn’t disappoint with hers. I got everything I wanted from this one. ARC was provided from the publisher via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

So I've been putting off reading this book because I just wasn't ready for the series to be over. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Cady, Lon & Jupe. Unlike a lot of series that run out of gas, this one being over in 4 books felt perfect, a little too short but mainly that's due to wanting to spend more time with the characters, the story was completely wrapped up.
It's hard to review this one without series spoilers. I'll just say that this book picks up not long after the major events of the 3rd book. The showdown between Cady and you know who is coming and I love that Cady & Lon continue their strong relationship even with the curveballs thrown at them here. We also get some of Jupe's POV and that was great.
I recommend this series all the time for UF readers who like a little romance in their stories. Cady and Lon are a great couple and the family that they form with Jupe makes me so happy when I'm reading. And by the time I got to the epilogue I had both a grin and some tears (happy tears).

This is the last book in the series???
Noes!!!

Wow!
I loved this!
Review to come..

And here it is. The last book of the Arcadia Bell series....

"Banishing the Dark" picks up a few weeks after the "you know what happened" in the last pages of Binding The Shadows (book #3).
Feelings are running high, Cady's sociopath of a mother continues lurking on the horizon waiting for a chance to attack _long story ~go read the first book!~ _ and Cady is running out of ideas.
So what does she do?
Well, I could tell you, but then I would ruin the book for you!
So, no telling ;)
Let me just say that reading this was heartbreaking, awe inducing, funny _Jupe is in it, so, what did you expect? _ and completely addictive!
I like the fact that Cady isn't our average urban fantasy heroine.
She really tried to lead a normal life _ well as normal as one can have, being the owner of a bar that caters to earthbounds_ only when people didn't let her _ there was the sacrifice attempts and things of the sort _ did she have to come to terms with the other "aspect" of her life.
So I guess it was to expect, that this series wouldn't have a.. let's say "energizer bunny" duration.
You know the type that.. lasts and lasts, _okay..do you think that's in character with the characters?_ lasts _ when will this series end?_, lasts _Okay I'm done with this *****!! *throws book in rage and promises never to touch the series again*
No one can accuse the Arcadia Bell series of that!
What you can say is, that it ended with a very positive bang, surfing the "biggest waves" of the urban fantasy world!
There's so many "quotable" quotes that I could place here to leave you all salivating, but I CAN'T, because this is an arc!

The characters are as great as ever.
I just love the quirky demon family Cady got for herself. I love their interactions, and the way they are always there for one another!
I love Lon, even with his pirate moustache...and despite his old age!lol ;)
Then there's Jupe who is the most cutest, infuriating, "hugable" teen ever created! I love him, even when he is being his usual big mouthed self!
Oh, and I can totally see him having his own series! ;) *wink*
Well, him and another member of the Butler family! That ending, lol, was priceless!
Definitely recommended for first reads, and re-reads, which is something I would love to do if I didn't have a pile of arcs to read!
So what are you waiting for in order to start this series?

This was such a great conclusion to this series! I'm so sad that it's over because I already miss Cady, Lon, and Jupe. I hope that we'll see Jenn Bennett return to adult UF/PNR some day.

A very satisfying conclusion to the series. What really made this series work for me, was the cast of suppporting characters, specifically Lon and Jupe. They are both here in fine fashion.
Awesome! I read this one and as I turned the pages I was sad because this is the last in the series! Arcadia, Lon, and Jupiter are great characters and I cant wait to read Jenn Bennett's next book! I am officially a fan as I realized when I ran out to the bookstore last night to buy Banishing the Dark. I was anxiously awaiting the release of this one and it was wonderful!
