I need to read it again. Best book of Ali’s so far.

I am crushing on Lukas so hard.

Scarlett and Pen. Pen and Lukas. Lukas and Scarlett. Extra drama as they're college aged and their time is torn between competitions for swimming and diving as well as college courses. Yes, super angsty. Yes, frustrating at times. Overall it kept me reading and I enjoyed the story. I was worried since I'm not in competitive swimming or diving there would be a lot of frustrating technical terms, but that wasn't the case at all. Good, very spicy book!

I thought the whole premise was a bit odd. Like I don’t want you but here have my friend? I also had a hard time liking any of the characters in this story. The FMC was so insecure and unsure of herself but I do think that reflects the years of emotional abuse she suffered. The MMC was okay. They meshed well together but it was a bit too insta love for me especially considering the whole bizarre being set up by his ex because they both wanted to explore things?

Lukas is absolutely ABSOLUTEly perfect. I would however say that Ali needs more of a trigger warning than just the sex stuff because there are lots of MH things in this too. I am sad that’s it’s over, I loved that he was Swedish, I loved the juxtaposition of their personalities but also their similarities. Ali knows how to make her MMC’s perfection everytime

LUKAS AND SCARLETT
I love these bb’s so much. Deep End was so frieken well written. I fear the imprint of this book on my heart will be permanent. The fact that it was only a single POV and I was dying to know what Lukas was thinking the entire time made this book that much better. A lot of ppl talked about this book being too spicy but I think Ali did such an amazing job of making sure the spice made sense to the plot and the development of their “non-relationship” until it was no longer non 😏 I really didn’t know how things were going to look by the end of this book but I love the way Ali brought things together. The growth of Scarlett was so beautiful. she deserves all the Olympic gold medals for how much work she put in to get her mental health right. Ugh so good, will probably re-read this at some point.

another day another ali hazelwood book !

i liked it well enough?! i had fun!?!

my hang-ups are kinda specific to my own personal preferences i think? like im not sure if the majority of people feel this way or if im just being pedantic... ANYWAYS!

i couldnt buy into vandy/luk's relationship -- there was something about it that just didnt feel authentic. not sure if this is a ~ spoiler ~ really bc, well, its a romance book ! BUT ill cover it anyways! -->
i love love love when we finally get the 'i love you' reveals! its my fave part of a romance book - but this one? idk, i was pretty indifferent about it :(

their relationship felt very shallow (pun not intended). it wasnt bad per se but it felt lackluster. i wanted to love them together but by the end i didnt really think they were compatible beyond their shared kinks.

on a positive note ! i will say omg yay i love bi inclusion ! from a fellow bi, we loveeee to see it!

i want to go more in depth but i simply dont think i have it in me! long story shooooort: it was straightforward and fun but lacked a certain depth. there were a lot of themes that couldve been fleshed out and used to make this story more rich and that just didnt happen. not a terrible thing but kinda disappointing!

its not my least favorite ali hazelwood book - not even close! but its not my fave. i AM happy i bought it, its super cute and looks great on my bookshelf :) im sure ill re-read it some day!

excited to see what miss ali does next :P

The first half was great and then my excitement faded and the friend drama made me want to kms. I was so frustrated with the characters I almost dnfed. Also the mc was so fucking frustrating and there wasn’t really any “kink” just them saying kink every 5 seconds. I was so exited for this book but it was really disappointing.
