Ali Hazelwood really is the queen of STEM romance! Not only did she write a hot, sexy, suzzily, emotionally deep college romance but she also incorporated her love of science (and even some of my favs in a cameo). I will forever read what she writes!

Lukas is one of my favourite book boyfriends. So glad I listened to this as an audiobook

Lukas is the perfect MMC, this book was single POV and I feel like it was missing his POV to fill in the gaps. I think I wanted more and there was a lot I wish I could’ve seen but other than that this book was amazing.

If there’s anything Ali Hazelwood knows how to do is write a PINING man.

Potentially my favourite Ali Hazelwood book of all time. Lukas is absolutely everything - the pure adoration of such a stoic man kills me. Scarlett was relatable and weird and nervous and cute (occasionally a coward but it worked for the plot). Some good twists and loved the diving / swimming setting and the high stakes. The Adam & Olive cameos were super cute and I just fell completely in love with this story.

Hazelwood's writing just keeps getting better and better. My favorite parts were actually the scenes and conversations with the men's swim team; they perfectly capture the essence of brotherly camaraderie in men's sports and also dumb (but wholesome) frat boy shenanigans.
I found the pacing of the culminating conflict
with Penelope
to be too awkward and rushed at the end.
There was so much energy put into establishing how positive Penelope's character is, that I absolutely expected a conflict; we have to really understand her in order to still root for and like her afterwards. Her "descent" just kind of felt like a weird coin flip in the last few pages. I would absolutely read a spin-off about her though.

The spice is great, but intense. I don't recommend this book for people new to Hazelwood or fic writing. But it's so fun. I love Lukas, like I am with every male lead by Hazelwood. ❤️
