1.5 stars. Sorry I lowkey feel ashamed of myself for pushing through this cuz I did NOT like it at all right from the beginning lol. It was a damn odd rs they had esp at the start when they were COMPLETE STRANGERS and started discussing their bedroom kinks in broad daylight?? I was shook. And ngl, the book kept hyping them up having found the 'perfect kink partner' and istg their bedroom scenes couldn't be more vanilla (like u can't hype me up and then disappoint me like that) like he didn't even tie her up PLS HAHAHAH
I did appreciate how incredibly mature the characters were tho, even just Vandy and Pen's friendship when Pen crashed out over losing her chance at a gold medal and ex-bf (after getting dumped also) but Vandy understood that she was going thru an emotional time and didn't take her words to heart (couldn't be me tho).
Lukas was also incredibly mature in handling Vandy's v avoidant personality lol (except for that one part where he ghosted her for two weeks cuz he had a tendency to deprive himself of things/people(??) he wanted, which was fking weird).
but anyway, if I'm being honest, it's for u if you're just here for the spice and horniness if not, there rly isn't much to it :/ (but Ali Hazelwood's writing is always so good i stan)
TDLR SUMMARY: Vandy has a mental block with diving due to an accident (her bf dumped her and her abusive dad contacted her the day before her vvvvv impt diving competition). So her bf, Lukas (aka kink partner / Mr Dominant / Swedish guy) helps her to regain her status as an outstanding diver and overcome her perfectionist habits. That's it.

It was too long for a romance book and cringe at times. Pen is horrible and Scarlett annoyed me. The troll nickname, no ma'am. Constantly reminding me of the sexual deviancy ๐. These things just bothered me more because I didn't love the book enough to ignore them.
I'm a fan of Ali Hazelwood's writing, but this was just mediocre. It had its moments and it's an easy fast read. Even with all the things that I didn't like, it's still tolerable if you like her style.

"Too much?(โฆ)That's too bad," he says, his voice at once mean and fond, like he contains every multitude I'll ever need. "Since you'll take what I fucking give you." He rocks back inside, knocking any sense of self out of me. My entire body tightens around him, around his words, and I think that maybe I'm- "Oh sweetheart. Already? Just from this?โ

If you want to cry because the book is over, does that mean you can rate more than 5 stars?
