The story was interesting but the twist did not really give a “wow factor”

It’s definitely a page turner if you like mysteries, but the plot reminded me wayyy too much of Shutter Island. It felt predictable, not in that you knew the exact ending, but in a way you knew the narrator had something more going on. Foreshadowing was blatant through how easy it was for the narrator to get close to Alicia. Also the plot twist required a weird creative liberty with timelines and I felt like the author almost lied and made it impossible to guess the ending which I always enjoy doing.
It was good in the sense of how it built up but her ending her silence kind of felt like a let down- nothing crazy happened. Personally biased against stories that have men tell women’s stories so that could have been a personal preference but wasn’t my cup of tea.

I don’t even know yet. This was…strange. But, I feel like I knew the twist about 50% of the way through the book and was disappointed to find out I was right. I never want to be right about a twist.
