Oh dear, this just didn't hit the spot I'm afraid and isn't worth a full review. Originally written in German, and translated to English by Anthea Bell, I really wanted to like this book more then I did. It has a female protagonist, Blum, and unfortunately her character didn't feel quite right. For starters, Blum was bizarrely over-sexual even though she is a devoted mother and wife. She thinks things like 'I bet he wants my c***' - that is not a direct quote but you get the picture. Her character just seemed a bit off. The twists were underwhelming as I didn't really care about any of the characters and I think the author tried much too hard to be shocking and disgusting. He didn't quite pull it off I'm afraid. Can't say I would recommend this one, a mediocre thriller at best.
