El libro es muy bueno, la historia es muy original y mientras lo vas leyendo, incluso mientras sabes el final de Santiago sigues teniendo esperanzas de que alguien le diga a tiempo el plan sobre su muerte, aunque lo que hace para mi el libro especial es la peculiar narración de Gabriel García Marquéz, no solo con su peculiar estilo donde lees palabras de pueblos y logra hacerlos sonar elegantes, sino la linea de tiempo distorsionada.
This is my second Márquez book and even more than the magical realism, his style for me is marked by his large cast of characters and the non-linear aspect. I still think I would better enjoy Márquez studying him in a class setting where I could discuss and analyze the minutia with others, but I liked the unraveling aspect of this (think a very literary/highbrow form of true crime. This I think is a good starting point for Márquez rather than jumping into a longer, even more complex text of his. However I do personally hate how acceptable the idea of an honor killing is.

He gripped me from the first page with his captivating narrative and powerful exploration of guilt and tragedy in a small community. Through her evocative prose, she weaves a story of honor, revenge and destiny, showing the complexities of life in a vibrant and tense Latin American setting. Although the inevitability of the tragic outcome is foreshadowed from the beginning, the author's ability to create a suspenseful and emotional atmosphere left me pondering long after reading the last page.
