4.21 AVERAGE

I loved the whimsical love story that grew in these pages. Roman and Iris are both lovely characters and I lost myself in the enjoyment of reading with this one.

I spent a lot of this book not really caring about the main characters. I honestly found them rather boring. I found the lore around the type writers and the Gods way more interesting. I did however care by the end I just dislike it took the whole book for me to get there. I did immediately start the second book.

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

Just bored with the audio. Will have to switch the physical version.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? Everything about this was lacking.

Omg I need to give this book a thousand ⭐️ I AM LITERALLY NAUSEOUS after reading that ending. Better than ACOTAR? Better than Fourth Wing? It’s really up there!!!! I need book 2 or else I will not survive this world. The love & letters are just so beautiful!! This author is absolutely incredible.

Damn did I read the same book as everyone else? 2.5 rounded up but really I don’t know if it deserves that.

I was really expecting so much more. It started out a little slow but everyone was raving so I thought I’ll stick it out, it seemed to pick up a little and I won’t lie I shed a few tears during our pivot moment. But then it just lost the thread completely. The dialogue was cringey, the romance was rushed (I don’t believe a character can be so betrayed and then be ready to accept it by the evening), the fantasy elements were practically nonexistent, and even the war itself was somehow both boring and also seemed completely unrealistic? It felt like someone whose only information on war was what they remembered from 8th grade history class.

I was going to put spoilers but I need to mention it, the ending was shit. Iris’ reaction to her brother forcing her to abandon who is presumably the love of her life and letting him just drag her back home without putting up any sort of fight ?? What the fuck?

I’ll try the 2nd book because I’m nothing if not a completionist but damn am I disappointed.

Though I would rank this a 4.5, the plot was very interesting and I fell in love with Iris and Roman. Can't wait to start the 2nd book
