Hey, So i just finished The Eternity Key(Into the Dark #2) by Bree Despain and all i can say is OH MY HADES, DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN! So, after I gathered my thoughts i can honestly say, i think the squeal was at a higher level than the first book. Magic seeped through the words bound within the book. i yearned for more, my heart bleeding enough as it is. I was entombed in this remarkable adventure once again. I felt like i really saw into the soul of the characters, the depths of their personalities. I just cant believe how it all unfolded. Like SERIOUSLY?! They had it all planned out and then.. shattered. Shattered just like Haden's love. So... questions?

This was very good. This series was leaps and bounds above an already pretty good first book in the series. While the push and pull of the Haden/Daphne relationship was frustrating, the pacing in this book was well-done, and I really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Egmont USA for giving me this book to review

Daphne is beginning to embrace her destiny as the cypher and is discovering the power of her musical ability. Along with her friends, she is determined to find the Key of Hades and save her world from the Keres. Haden has chosen Daphne and what is right over power, but is struggling with his feelings for Daphne and how to tell her. Time is running out to find the Key before the spring equinox, and with Skylords in Olympus Hills and a possible traitor in their group can Daphne and Haden succeed.

The Eternity Key is the really enjoyable sequel to The Shadow Prince. It is fast paced, and I found the story more interesting than the previous book. This book has more action and romance, and while a bit predictable I wanted to find out what was happening next.

Daphne feels like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders which leaves her feeling really stressed in this book but she is less naïve and still a very nice, if a bit too perfect, person. Haden has accepted who he is and the choices he has made, he is more human in this book and is very protective. We get Tobin’s POV in this book and we get to understand him more and his determination to find his sister.

I really liked this book and I am looking forward to the next book in this series, as this did end on a cliff-hanger. I would recommend The Eternity Key to fans of the first book in the Into the Dark series The Shadow Prince.

I liked this second book better than the first, but it dragged a bit in parts. The ending is a major cliffhanger and so now I can't wait for the third book!

- I love this series! This book didn't have middle book syndrome at all. It moved the story along nicely and kept me hooked the whole way through.

- The story is very well thought out. I love the twists and surprises.

- The characters are awesome. I loved them in the first book, and each character grows so much in this book. Great character development!

- The ending is awful, but in a good way. It is one of those cliffhanger endings where you want to chuck the book across the room and weep, but you love the author for it because it is just great storytelling.

- I love the relationship between Daphne and her father. Her dad made huge mistakes, but he is really stepping up as a father, and I love seeing good father figures in books. We need more of that.

- I also love the Daphne and Haden relationship. It is full of tension!

- Love this series! So many emotions! More gush gush gush!

I really think this fixed some of the problems that I had with the first book. I really enjoyed it from start to finish. I had trouble feeling empathetic with most of the characters in the last book but this one I really connected with them and I was routing for them the whole time. I have to say my favorite character turned out to be the one I hate the most but maybe that will change, I doubt it will but I won't give up hope.

Thank you to Netgalley and Egmont USA for allowing me access to this title.

Wow! Talk about major suspense and cliff-hangers...

I am glad to say this did not fall into the second book blah category. The characters continued to build from their introduction in book one. The plot was exciting and flowed very well, keeping me reading when I should have gone to bed.

Recommended for older fans (14 +) of Percy Jackson and Meg Cabot's Abandon Trilogy.
