Stomach-churning, but I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Panther goes to some dark places and I'm not convinced Brecht Evens treats what he depicts (albeit cryptically) in the most responsible of ways, especially when he talks in interviews of children coming up to him and wanting copies of the book signed.

Het verhaal mocht voor mij nog iets complexer zijn dan Het lijkt een kinderboek maar dat is het absoluut niet. Evens' tekeningen zijn zoals altijd prachtig.

This book is aesthetically beautiful but also horrifying in its themes. It reads like such a children's book, and then takes a dark turn. Very effective.
