SYNOPSIS:
  • Twenty years ago, a baby was snatched right out of a stroller in a supermarket. In present day, someone is murdered in a nursing home. How are these related? You’ll have to read to find out!
  • The four POVs + connected folks are:
    • Patience: an 18 year old working at a nursing home.
    • Edith: an elderly woman living at a nursing home.
    • Clio: a therapist.
    • Frankie: a prison librarian

MY THOUGHTS
  • This marks the 5th book I’ve read by Feeney. I think there’s only one I haven’t read yet of hers. I love her writing style. Her books flow nicely, and I typically get through them pretty quickly. I made it through this one in a day.
  • Feeney does a great job developing characters & is an expert at plotting a good thriller.
  • This kept my attention throughout, and I kept wanting to see how everything was connected. I enjoyed how little details are sprinkled throughout & everything starts coming together.
  • Although some aspects of the story are predictable, it didn’t take away the enjoyment for me.
  • The ending was okay. Not amazing, but not bad.
  • I am a sucker for complex family relationships, and there’s a lot of those in this one.
  • There are multiple POVs & multiple timelines in this one.

TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️hard to put down. interwoven POVs of 4 women & 2 crimes. finished in a day. ending wasn’t amazing, but enjoyed the book.

Oh boy this book was something! I had no idea what I was getting into it when I started. If you have a mother wound this book can be a bit triggering. I pushed through, and I’m so glad I did! It’s told in multiple POV’s but the author made it very easy to follow along. I really liked the chapter headings and they were different for each character. This book grasped me from the first page. I really enjoyed it.
