It has taken me almost a year to finish reading. I loved the Midnight Library and it became one of my favourite books; this one, however... I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I'm more of a plot reader rather than a character reader but I need a balance between the two, and it felt impossible to connect with the main character.
Must be the age gap.

A complicated story that shifts between time. A father seeks his daughter, giving himself a reason to continue living. And living. And living. If you could live forever, would you want to? Really? This book was thought provoking and no doubt I'll think on it for some time to come.

It's not my favourite of Matt Haig's novels, but it was nice

Haig's How To Stop Time is a lovely piece of creation that reminded me how wonderful, humorous and versatile some books can be.
Tom’s secret is that he has been alive for centuries; he ages very slowly. He hides this having learnt a long time ago the dangers of revealing his condition, which to him is a curse.
Tom's story and the chapters alternate between his past and his present. We see him with a cast of characters from the history books, travelling the world, until he settles down as a history teacher in a London school where his experiences allow him to make the subject come alive.
How To Stop Time is entertaining, emotional and thought provoking. Do yourself a favor and get a copy, knowing that it's the work of a truly breathtaking writer. Highly recommended.
