Nancy makes me want to be an amateur sleuth.

This was another fun one! Nancy is tasked with helping her father gather information on a ring of jewel thieves, whilst they're vacationing at a resort. Of course, because Nancy has to be the most Mary Sue character to ever Mary Sue, Nancy also shows off her stellar golf skills (despite never having mentioned golf in any capacity in any previous book). This adds yet another thing on the long list of hobbies and skills she possesses, right next to scuba diving and sailing. Bess and George again accompany her, along with Ned, Burt, and Dave, and her father was a bit more present in this installment as well. There was a definite red herring this time around, which was an interesting writing choice, and it kept me guessing who was responsible until the truth was revealed.

Okay, so we’ve gone from a sailing vacation to a golf resort. Nancy apparently is an excellent golfer (of course) and here we see her qualify for and compete in a tournament. Even though the tournament is not her first priority (duh, sleuthing is always #1), and even though she has an injured hand, she still manages to beat these other (presumably) semi-pro players. Nancy also has to deal with some flirtatious dude who keeps trying to mess with her as she attempts to solve the latest mystery, which involves a buried treasure chest she casually found. One which a local gardener has been searching for forever (there goes Nancy again, defying the odds!) As usual, Nancy is drenched in a rainstorm and falls into a ravine after a bridge collapses. (I’m seriously beginning to think that Nancy’s most useful skill is her ability to swim.). In keeping with ND tradition, people who sustain severe injuries just sleep it off, and Nancy finds time to go to church in the midst of everything else going on.

i say this with slight embarrassment but this was the first nancy drew novel i'd ever read. i've always loved nancy as a literary figure, but cannot for the life of my remember why i avoided her books like the plague.

Some people have comfort food; I have comfort books. Nancy Drew books are at the top of that list--she is fearless, always solves the mystery and no matter what danger she faces, you know that she will triumph in the end.

The Haunted Bridge includes a vacation, an international ring of jewel thieves, an annoying suitor, and of course, a haunted bridge. Even though she's on vacation, Nancy soon enough encounters a mystery and it's up to her to save the day...and a marriage.

4/4/20 age 9 - The story is about a girl named Nancy who goes on an adventure across a "haunted" bridge and solves a hard case and captures them. I loved it! I liked the part where Nancy finds out that the so-called "haunted" bridge wasn't haunted at all. I did not like the part where Nancy sprained her hand!
Words that describe this book: exciting, surprising, entertaining, funny. It was funny when Nancy, Bess, and George found out that what the golf caddies thought was a ghost haunting the old bridge was just an old, old scarecrow with a tattered white cloth blowing around in the breeze. I would recommend this book to mystery and adventure lovers.

This one's interesting because so far as I've read it's the only one that's not what you see is what you get.

Oh, Nancy Drew-you persevere time and again, and this time while winning a golf tournament.

In this installment of the franchise, Nancy is helping her father Carson apprehend a ring of international jewel thieves. To do so, they take a vacation at a golf resort with Bess and George, with Nancy splitting her time between sleuthing and golfing.

By comparison, this story is about par for the course (pun intended) with other Drew mysteries-both nothing exceptional, but the plot holds together enough and the story itself has a bit more character drama than usual.

I've noticed that in my quest to read the original 56 Nancy Drew mysteries, I've become increasingly jaded in my reviews (and general experience of the books). Perhaps it will be good to break up my reading extravaganza with other literature, and return to Nancy when I've had some space.

Definitely a recommended book, but I'm not sure I'd recommend reading all of the previous installments before delving into this one. Only the truly committed should attempt that feat.
