The written style was not for me, I struggled to understand what was happening - which is probably the premise considering the main characters experiences. However, I found it difficult to connect with.

This is a difficult one. Gut wrenching, heartbreaking. Such a powerful prose, I've never read something quite like it. It felt personal, as if the character was climbing inside of you, growing and growing until she tears you apart. The writing oozes talent.

This is prodigiously written, profoundly fucked-up book that will probably not be your cup of tea if you're not a fan of domestic abuse and brutal sexual encounters rendered in a kind of broken stream of consciousness. Eimear McBride is a brilliant writer. My only criticism? I wish the story (so much as the story exists at all) were even half as inventive as the prose.
