I wish we got to see more of Rowley and Gregs’ family. This was centred around school the entire time. I enjoyed this but felt like it was lacking something. It did have funny moments but also ridiculous moments.

In the best way possible, this book felt like an idea that came to Jeff Kinney in a dream that he just had to get down on paper, or a funny hypothetical situation that my friends and I would come up with in a "Yes, and"-like conversation. It touches upon a number of the various problems plaguing American schools today—book banning, lack of funding, uninterested students/unengaging programs, etc—and satirizes the issues to a humorous and surprisingly insightful degree (although definitely still at a fairly surface level). While not groundbreaking nor particularly thought-provoking, it's fun, quick, and easy to read without being straight up unintelligent.
Reading a Diary of the Wimpy Kid book is generally the same affair for me. I love these books, but they are usually just a filler book for me, to read between my more plot-heavy books.
This book revolves around Greg's failing school, Larry Mack Middle School, despite the title of the book. In fact, the title of the book is only referred to in the opening pages of the book, while the rest doesnt acknowledge it.
Honestly, reading about his school, which is virtually falling apart, I am immensely grateful for the school that I go to. Though I am extremely concerned about schooling in America now.
The school is very, very desperate. The High Flyers Club just seems wrong to me. And then they brought in the Premium High Flyers Club. Yeah.....no. I have no clue how the parents were alright with this.
The silent auction, and the actual auction, all seem very far fetched. You are telling me that the parents who can't transfer their children to a better school, are going to auction for stuff like, Principal of the Day? What I am getting from this book, is that it is clearly not Greg's fault that he seems a bit......dim minded. No offence Greg, but some of the things that you got up to in the previous books are concerning.
We don't get to see much of Greg's family, apart from his mum, who seems to be a very active person in Greg's life. Even Rowley only appears once. So this book ends up feeling very detached from other people.
Seeing as I finished this book within one hour, I did enjoy reading this. It carries on with the same format of previous books, and isnt anything new or spectacular. Still, I liked it, and would recommend to any fans.

The one in which Greg kisses a pig.
I like the cleaning robot. It'd be cool if that became a running gag. Anyway, until next year, Wimpy Kid series.
