It's hard to believe that I have been reading these every year for 18 years but ... there ya go. I still get a laugh, and then when I am done, I pass the book off to my students to chuckle at (there are a lot fewer fans than there once were but they're still there).

Read this for my little brother, who loved it. I don’t think I’m in the target age range anymore lol, which was probably why I didn’t enjoy it as much as if I’d been younger. Also, why does a school have security guards, especially if they’re so broke?

Have to give 5 stars for the history I have with this series. Although will say that the transitions in this book are very clever however, the pacing wasn't ideal for me. For instance, I would have liked to see more about the standardized test they had to take but it felt like it was brushed over.

It was funny but not as much funny as I wanted it to be. I needed/wanted more Rowley and Manny in it. You know what? I take my words back. it is not funny. 2.5 stars for the old-time sake.

This book was great! Loved it. In this book, Greg Heffley’s middle school, Larry Mack middle school, is running low on money, supplies are going down. The school do everything to raise money. They put advertisements everywhere. They figure that having the school named after, rather infamous, Larry Mack, could cause problems. After trying their hardest, the school can’t do anything about their situation. When the student paper reveals that the school might get shut down, and it all depends on what they get on their standardised test, not everyone is that sad about it. When Greg found out that he was going to Fulson Tech, the best school he could imagine, he was overjoyed. Rowley Jefferson, his best friend is not going. But some kids and their parents got overwhelmed, they just took their kids to a private school. When Alex Alruda went to a private school, the list flipped and Greg found that he was going to Slacksville instead, he was bummed. When he finds out he is the smartest in the school, he finally becomes popular. Can he reopen the school, or will he always go to slacksville?

This book is mostly an extended series of gags about how poor Greg's school is. I liked it a lot.
