I read the first nine books between the ages of 9 – 12 and then stopped. Obviously when lockdown happened and everyone was spring cleaning, I came across all my books from this collection and I loved the series when I was a child, I might be 23 years old, but I am still reading this series until it stops, or I die. I refuse to give up this small piece of my childhood. I will be giving these books to my nephew or my niece. So obviously I must read this.
The book is based on Greg who we’ve been following for the last seventeen books. Greg doesn’t enjoy middle school and the school he goes to is falling apart, literally. The school haven’t got any money and the students' grades are terrible that the school could be closing. Greg doesn’t think this is a bad idea, until he realizes that he is going to a different school than his best friend Rowley. Greg is hoping that the school will be saved before it shuts for good. Will this be a whole new chapter for Greg?
I liked that this book had the old feel like the first couple of books in the series. With his main problem is school, which I think a lot of children can relate to. I loved the fact that he is bringing the technology in the book like with the cleaning robot. But I love the fact that a teacher could read it and feel the struggles with the budget cuts and having to deal with middle schoolers. I liked seeing the reappearance of Rowley, though he was only in it for a few pages. I missed the chaos that Greg and Rowley get up when they are together and like the last few books, I missed the family dynamic, and I missed Manny causing absolute trouble.
This book was so funny, and I can’t wait to see what troubles Greg gets into next.

Actually a scathing critique on the current state of the US education system.

These books are my childhood and I have the whole collection so you know I had to get this edition haha!!
Look, I love these books and usually I don't leave reviews for them. They're just here for fun and they were also how I started my reading journey.
A fun, light-hearted read but I wanted to see some more of Rowley since he was mentioned on the blurb BUT he only appears in like 5 pages??? Like, it's mostly just Greg complajning about middle school, That's it! That's the only flaw of this book.
Amazing book to pass the time, enjoyed every one of the 217 pages.
