The Proposal is a new Adriana Locke book, and just like the rest of them, it's instantly a new favorite. I haven't found a book by her that I haven't loved yet! This book is about Renn and Blakely.

Renn and Blakely find themselves in an interesting predicament. They decide to make a proposal for a certain amount of time to see how they should resolve what happened between them.

I loved Renn and Blakely, their banter was so fun to read. The relationship between Blakely and her brother is funny too, since he is also Renn's best friend. I loved everything about this book, and can't wait to see what happens next!

Renn and Blakely are so good together they are perfect. i really liked the characters and how they developed into more but also how there romance devolved was amazing. also the side characters and there little side romance was perfect as well. The fact that Renn's family is so complicated but so welcoming to Blakely was good. But wow they are complicated. the romance was just chemistry but also so much passion it was amazing.

Another awesome book from Adriana! I am so thankful to have received this arc from Valentine PR to review this early! Release date: 8/14

Blakely is turning 30 so she and her friend head to Vegas to celebrate. She wants to settle down after this trip. Blakely’s rugby star brother and his teammate/best friend crash the party. After a wild night, Blakely finds out that she’s married to Renn! Renn has been in trouble with the media and doesn’t want to risk his contract for being in the tabloids again. He and Blakely decide to stay married for a short period and let the heat die down. In exchange, Renn offers Blakely something she wants (I don’t want to spoil).

Of course the spice was great and open door! We have a dirty talking rugby man! I love how loyal he was to Blakely and of course the “My wife” just hits different!

You are gonna want to check this out when it releases.

Tropes:
Brother’s best friend
Rugby player MMC
Accidental Vegas wedding
Marriage of convenience
Reformed player

“The Proposal” by Adriana Locke was everything I didn’t know I needed! Marriage of convenience is one of my all time favorite tropes, and I thought this one was very well w written. Renn and Blakely have always gravitated towards each other, but nothing has ever happened because he’s her brother’s best friend and teammate. I thought Renn and Blakely’s love story was both amazing and heartfelt. Their marriage may have been an accident at first, but the more time they spent together, the more they began to fall for each other - even if they didn’t want to admit it. Renn was so incredibly swoony, and I loved how he was determined to treat Blakely like a queen and protect her from the media/paparazzi. As for Blakely, I thought she was super sweet and sassy, and I loved that she didn’t fall in love with Renn for his money or his connections, but because of his personality and the way he took care of her. All in all, I really loved this book!

This is book 1 in Adriana Locke’s Brewer Family series. While a spinoff of her Carmichael Family series (featuring a few cameos), this stands well on its own and can be read without having enjoyed those first.

I jumped at the chance to listen to this. I already love Locke’s writing plus this has some of my favorite tropes/themes: Brother’s Best Friend/Best Friend’s Sister, Fake/Accidental Marriage, and Friends to Lovers. Plus, there’s a llama. What’s not to love?

Given all the chaos in their lives and their accidental drunken Vegas wedding – Blakely & Renn’s relationship is pretty low angst. Most of the drama comes from work and family. The joy was experiencing them finally – FINALLY – admit to their feelings and deciding it could be real and forever.

They don’t take over the story – but Renn’s siblings are a blast and I’m excited about their future books. I’m already in love with the stoic bodyguard Foxx Carmichael and can’t wait til his book, Flame comes out next month.

The dramatic family dinner, HEA (for two couples!), and sweet little epilogue wrapped up the perfect romance.

Narration:
John Lane and Avery Caris were ahhhhmazing. I’ve been a fan of Lane’s deep gravely voice but this was my first time listening to Caris. I’m in love. They both brought life, love, romance, emotion, and humor to Locke’s delightful story. Perfect casting and listen.

While I borrowed the ebook via Kindle Unlimited, I did receive a copy of the audiobook from Home Cooked Books and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

the pacing is on zoom and there’s a lot of telling instead of showing, but it was so good

and I honestly would've given this a million and one stars just because I love Fox Carmichael and he was so funny even as a background character
