Another good book in the Windsor brothers series. The last of the brothers to have an arranged marriage, Lex has real trust and control issues and comes close to losing Raya. A good read if uncomfortable in places
Im honestly so happy i ended up giving this series another try, i dnfd the last book but this one pretty good. Lex found out that his grandma planned for him to marry raya so he ran into her, on purpose, at a bar. They started playing this game of truth or dare (very childish) and went back to his place. They didnt have sex but she still ended up leaving in the morning, so in turn he became a professor for a class she was in. They soon announce that theyll be marrying each other and raya gets mad but gets over the fact that he lied to her. The fiance part of the book was quite nice, the spice scenes went crazy, and when they eventually got married it was so nice.
So many crazy things happened in this book:
1. One night lex was having a nightmare and he said the name jill. Raya asked who jill was so he told her how she was his college girlfriend and she tried to scam money out of him.
2. We found out that rayas dad was not her biological dad (her mom was in an arranged marriage and was pregnant when she left, her dad was actually giving the bio dad 10,000 a month)
3. When that stopped and lex and raya refused to pay him, he kidnapped lexs sister
4. Lex thought raya had something to do with it and literally held a gun to her head. This part disappointed so much, she obviously left him, she did give him another chance but we also found out that her wedding ring had a tracker in it.
Just so insane, they do end up reconciling and he worked through all his mental issues, but it was just such a crazy story, very interesting.

I don’t even know where to start with how much I loved this book, except to say the only reason it took me two days to finish is because I had to work and get SOME sleep in between shifts.
Lex has always been one of my favorite brothers to see and hear from throughout the Windsor series, and his book did not disappoint. Was I furious at him for 5 minutes during those few chapters? Absolutely. But my heart broke for him in understanding at the same time, and watching him self reflect and begin to heal and work on issues he had long been trying to control was a bit self-healing for me too.
Honestly I think all the books I’ve read by Cat have done that to some extent for me.
And Raya? Oh I loved her spunk and hopeless romantic heart. And reading about her culture and how much love she had for it and the little things intertwined with who she was beautiful. I felt for her when her insecurities and overthinking got the best of her, but seeing the way her and Lex complimented and helped one another was so heartwarming. The love they shared together is something I think every person on this earth hopes to experience someday.
Some of my favorite moments of the book was seeing his family come together for Raya in her time of need. Their banter and love and support for one another is envious. But watching Raya’s mom and dad take in Lex like a son was probably one of my top 3. He needed that, and never even knew it until it happened.
This entire series has been 5 stars for me. I can’t wait for Sierra and Xavier’s story.

I really liked this book and I had every hope of rating it a 4. However, Lex putting a gun to Raya’s head completely made me feel a way.
Raya was the sweetest. I loved how she accepted Lex for who he was, flaws and all. She forgave him for somethings that I would never. Lex was different than I expected. In all of the other books, he seemed so laid back and carefree. So him being so obsessive with safety was so shocking. I completely understand why he was like that (f*ck Jill forever) BUT my guy should’ve BEEN got help before he pulled a gun on his wife.
Despite that, I did enjoy the book and I enjoyed seeing him try so hard to fix things with Raya and I was completely rooting for them to get their happily ever after.
Also I hate that Grandma Anne was dying!

Lex and Raya’s story is mostly sweet and full of heart and a nice addition to the Windsor saga until the 80% mark. Then something happens that is so over-the-top it blows all the rest out of the water.
The depth of Lex’s self-loathing and Raya’s indifference in the last fifth of the book, after his actions for the first 80% of the book indicated he was devoted to her, felt off. What he did was completely outrageous, but also a trauma response. If it’s a dealbreaker for her, then don’t drag it out. Just walk away. Lex can get the therapy he so clearly needs and they can both start over with someone else. Raya’s unforgiving stance and Lex’s abasement feels out of proportion when she was not only cool with but supportive of her dad’s outrageous level of control in her marriage. Forcing the couple to stay with her parents every weekend after the wedding, wanting to give them separate rooms, walking in on them unannounced, causing them to behave like teenagers caught in the act…why is that okay? She was holding her dad up as the standard she wanted from her husband, yet turns cold when she sees Lex also feels a need for control? And can we talk about how Lex was raised by the hella controlling Grandma Anne?
I get that sometimes love isn’t enough, but what else could Lex possibly do to make her happy? His self-loathing paired with his devotion for Raya after the incident bothered me. She acted indifferent to the depth of love she claimed she wanted from him. And for her to go to Adam when she leaves? Her only friend is a guy who clearly wants to be more than friends? Ick.
