Wasn't too drawn into it until closer to the end of the book. Some easily recognized lines, especially the powerful ones at the end. Not terrible, but not terribly exciting either.

Another brilliant classic that I read for the first time. A Tale of Two Cities revolves around true events, such as The French Revolution, and tells a story of love and loss, sacrifice and justice.

i think it is well known of my adoration for dickens. i find him accessible, his ideas fun and unique, and his prose beautiful -- when not overly descriptive. a tale of two cities was the fifth book i have read by dickens, and unfortunately, has become my least favourite. now, obviously i still enjoyed it -- who rates books they like 4 stars!? but, i simply found it to be incredibly slowwww. which, i get it, is a common criticism of dickens. and i also get it, he was setting characters, plots, tensions, etc. without the slow start, we would not understand the significance of the end. but did it have to be so boring!? anyway, it does pick up, and became a thoroughly enjoyable read. maybe it's because i am a history major. i don't know. i wouldn't recommend it to someone as their first dickens, but it is worth a tackle at some point in your life!
Read my mum's 1941 edition - awesome. Love this book. Third read of it.

the book is a classic and a masterwork, of course. But I am also impressed by the narrator of this audiobook, Adam Henderson. What a pleasure to listen to!
