To tedy dělá z Příběhu dvou měst dobrou příležitost, jak si bez většího trápení či hlubšího zkoumání dobových reálií a autorova stylu připomenout, v čem tkví krásy klasické literatury.

I decided to read this because I thought I "should". Kind of like eating your broccoli, you should do it because it is good for you. I was so pleasantly surprised to find that I LOVED it!!!! Dickens is a GREAT writer and the story is exciting. LOVE this book. LOVE how Dickens writes. Really, you've got to read this book!!

One of the best books I’ve ever read. I hate to bring up associations with Madame Defarge, but it’s such a good analogy, knitting, with what Dickens has done here. All his little threads seem to the watcher to be put together haphazardly, without meaning or connection between them. He, however, has a master plan and gradually you begin to see it all coming together into a masterpiece. Oh, and you learn about the French Revolution along the way. I love books that take me to another place. Usually I feel a certain longing to be there in the flesh. Definitely not the case here! Anyway I’ve read some other Dickens novels and loved them, but nothing like this. This is a book that you put down at the end with a deep sigh and a tear in your eye, then look up and gradually realize where you are.

This book was probably one of the harder books I have read. Yes, as you can tell I am in 9th grade, and this was a required book for me to read. I think I think that this book would have been more enjoyable if I did not have to focus on the symbolism or write an essay about it afterward! The beginning was very slow and I felt it was very boring. Eventually, once the revolution started, I started to get more interested and liked it a lot more. I think that this book as a really good storyline and is definitely better if you read it outside of school!
