pushed through and finished this book but it really wasn’t my kind of vibe
the book was way to boring for me but when i went on to spark notes and read the "translated" version it broke down the story for me and revealed what an excellent plot the story actually has. so, i would recommend getting the no fear version of this book to help break it down so it's enjoyable to read, but if you can understand this old english style of writing that read away!
If possible, I think this book is even more impactful on a second reading. It definitely holds a place in my top favorite books of all time.
It takes some patience, but when you finally get to the point where you can see all the strings Dickens has been holding weaving themselves together, the payoff is incredible. An absolute masterpiece.

great book, just wish I could have read it faster. I really appreciated the ending.
I didn't like the book until page 331...after that i really liked it and couldn't help but cry.

STRAIGHT UP OBSESSED. i love this novel soso much it’s so good! ofc, with most books, the first few chapters are sooo boring but sooo necessary. anyway time to talk abt some characters i loved :)
lucie: g-dddd what to say. she’s the strongest character in this whole novel and she doesn’t deserve to be. she sees the best in people. she tries her best to give back to the people who help her. her friendship with carton is so important to me!!! they are Not in love btw
darnay: i will be honest he’s not my Fav but he’s instrumental to understanding my Favs. charles is literally just some guy who’s trying to make a better life for himself as an honest man and i respect that about him dearly. i think he truly loves and cares about lucie and only extends his love to sydney through her and her belief in him
carton: THE BITCH. kinda obsessed with him💞 he’s very instrumental in the story and is very interesting symbolically. i adore his friendship with lucie and little lucie. i don’t think he’s in love with charles but these two got a weird thing going on. their love is through the lens of lucie and their true feelings toward each other aren’t known and will never be known if lucie is around
everyone else was pretty cool but i feel like The trio is super important to me. it certainly is better the more you get into it the beginning is such a bore!!!!!

Probably Dickens darkest book. Covers the period of the French Revolution and all the awfulness that surrounded that time frame. Classic Dickens but not as fun as his other books.
