When the third act break-up is actually the ending... I had fun with this book but not a fan of how it left off. I'm trying to clear my TBR, not haul the sequel instantly to get answers!

Well, I didn’t have high expectations for this book but it served its purpose. I have been reading heavy world building fantasy and it definitely was a a quick palette cleanser if that’s what you’re after. It’s like a slightly more adult Twilight. Still as poorly written, very little smut (a little more) and basically the introduction of a normal human into the world of vampires and the a world she doesn’t fit in and is extremely dangerous for her. Sound familiar right? The story does try and make it more interesting with the introduction of The Rites. A process Thea will have to go through if she wants to be with her vamp, but it’s all quite boring and is very much like a hallmark Christmas movie or a channel 5 film. Enjoy it for what it is but don’t expect too much and you’ll be fine.

If I could do 4.5 as a rating, that is what this would be.

Julian Rousseaux is one of the a vampire version of the grumpy old man, stuck in a very sexy body, who meets Thea Melbourne, a Gen-Z musician. Lets just say the generational quips back and forth between these two are magic. Add in some romance, tension, frustration and a lot of chemistry, this book has some spice that makes it so delicious. Then for the fantasy readers out there, the lure of vampires and witches has some new twists, story building and magic to keep things modern while uniting history and lore together.

Geneva Lee does not disappoint ending this book in a way that makes you crave to know where the story goes next.
