Right up my alley of interests, I suppose. Risk perception always makes for fear-inducing fare. A good reminder to get out of my own head. Classic white boy protagonist with a sullen apathy though.

I bought this book at chapters on the Ultra Clearance table for $6 more than a year ago. I honestly didn't think it was going to be very good, but boy was I proven wrong, and happily so. PREMISE: Nerd makes a living telling people all the myriad ways they could die at any moment. Poison! Earthquake! Radioactivity! Political dealings gone bad! Flood! But then there really is a flood, one so giant it tears New York apart, and years of imagining the apocalypse have not, in fact, prepared him for the apocalypse.

(As someone with years of experience imagining the apocalypse, this book and this nerd both became very dear to me. Five stars.)

I enjoyed this book, but some of it became tedious. It wasn't as fast-paced as I had hoped given the subject material. I did enjoy Rich's writing.

2.5 stars. The book was written well enough, I just didn't care for it.

An interesting book about a worst case scenario and the fallout. Quite an interesting story!
