First of all, I have great respect for people who have been through a lot or who had a really rough start in life and worked (or are still working) through their trauma(s). That’s really hard and I applaud you (us) all for it.

Having said that, this book is not my cup of tea. To me it felt all a bit to Instagramish (I don’t know if that’s a word, but here you go). The writing felt to juvenile. To much of me, me, me, and my story and my many Instagram worthy quotes. But than again, I can understand that there are people who can find value in it, and that’s really awesome. So ‘yay’ for them, but not for me…

This book was a gift from a sweet friend. I cherish this friend and the inscription she wrote for me!

—————————

I did find a few quotes that resonated with me:

My healing isn’t linear.

It blooms and wilts as my seasons in life change.

———

What does validation look like in your life? Is it external or internal?

———

To my younger self, thank you for not giving up on life, even when it was hard not to.

Alexandra Elle has the most soothing voice, download the audiobook for that alone and trust me you will not be disappointed. I would classify this as a memoir over a self-help book. She gives you the meditations, affirmations and guidance you would get from a self-help book but what I found most poignant were the parts where she was sharing her experience. The stories were expertly chosen to guide the reader through the teachings. Beautifully written with vulnerability and wisdom Elle had me from chapter one. I plan on going back through and journaling on her meditations which I only do for a select few books. I can’t recommend it enough.

I received this book as a giveaway and I am so grateful it came to me when it did.

I literally felt I was reading my diary. Some days I had to put the book down because things were too tender or raw. Others I devoured it’s content feeling as I often do after counseling tired but oddly refreshed.

This book is one I will return to often in the days, months and years to come.

Very sweet but, ugh I hate this phrase, 'not my cup of tea'.

Reading this book was like getting a warm hug from your best friend and having a visit with a really good therapist, all wrapped up in one. Elle's writing is poetry, each line filled with her heart and soul. She shares many personal stories and I found myself relating to so many of them in one way or another. This book was beautiful and I could have highlighted every paragraph because there was something profound or thoughtful that I wanted to remember.

I am a huge fan of Alex Elle & this book is no different. This is a book to take your time with. After each “lesson” or chapter, I sat with myself… wrote quotes that resonated with me and wrote my answers to the questions at the conclusion of each chapter.
She invites us into moments of her life while getting us to delve deep into our own lives.
This is a great book for finding new ways of looking at your healing journey.
