Good as a starter to polyamory but I think has become outdated for those in the know.

I think this could be a very informative book for someone very new to the idea of polyamory and non-monogamy and is trying to open their mind to the concept and what it might look like. For me, even though I'm new to practicing it, I didn't find a lot of the information all that new or helpful. Still, I appreciate the authors writing this book which I know was a big deal since it came out and being open about their own experiences and finding others' experiences to share.

This is a great and well-written book about creating an abundance of love in your life. This means questioning the default of monogamy. For people wanting to practice polyamory it has a lot of advice about opening up a relationship, safer sex, communicating with your partners, navigating multiple lovers, letting relationships run their course and more. The writers' advice on how to navigate jealousy, loving yourself, exploring your sexuality and desires and considering alternative family structures and community beyond the default nuclear family are all applicable even to people who are monogamous or celibate.

Great read for all people. Especially for folx who are nonmonogamous, queer, kinky, or want anything besides a traditional, conservative relationship.

This book has some solid relationship advice for all kinds of relationships - not just polyamorous ones, but monogamous and even platonic ones. Being clear in communication, figuring out what you want, and setting boundaries are fundamental to interpersonal skills. The takes on what constitutes sex are a bit unorthodox, but interesting. However, the major problem I have with this book is that it focuses so much on the positive sides of being nonmonogamous that it comes across dismissive and hand-wavy to potential issues. And this problem is pervasive, cropping up in pretty much every chapter.

This was an incredible read, not just for information on polyamory but for on relationships and as a way of reframing many things within my mind.

The writing style is easy to comprehend, with explanations of confusing terms and a structure that is broken up on the page to allow for concentration breaks.

As well as giving you information, you get personal insights from the authors themselves and exercises to try to help you comprehend the material further.

I would recommend this text to anyone, especially if they are interested in sex and relationships as a topic; it will aid you in understanding polyamory as well as your own self and identity within romance and sex.
