This is a hell of a memoir. I didn't really know what to expect from it - I just like watching this guy trim cows' feet, so all I could safely assume is that there was probably more to his life than that.

It was written with the help of his brother, but it reads recognisably as Mr Hoof GP's voice, which makes the whole book feel personal, which is always a plus in a memoir. The descriptions of the Scottish countryside made me very nostalgic for my own (Cornish) countryside upbringing, and the way that Graeme can gush about cow foot anatomy is very endearing.

A lot of this book is a tough read, though. Graeme's been through some shit. He's done some shit. He's very upfront about it. His frankness about his mental health issues - a few of which I resonated with personally - is refreshing, especially since he doesn't shy away from the parts that are lesser discussed. He describes this memoir as his way of showing life behind the social media persona, and I think it fits that description well!
