I read through this book in only a couple of days, so I will say it was entertaining! The storyline reminded me of a Knifes Out/Glass Onion type mystery, which is part of why I liked it.
However, I figured out the ending less than halfway through the book. So I just wish it would have been a little less predictable.

I absolutely LOATHED these characters who had no conscience and showed no growth whatsoever. I was sickened by their actions and honestly just wanted to be done with this one by the 150 page mark. Although the quick-paced, suspenseful chapters at the end redeemed this one a bit , I had guessed the twist in advance. Just meh in my opinion.

The description drew me in, I wanted to finish it to find out what happened at the end and I was glad I finished it. The diary chapters are what got me to roll my eyes just a little as pages of a, what is presumed, word for word recount of a school day from a child is somewhat hard to believe.

I was leaning towards 3.5 but I think this is the authors debut novel! So I rounded up to 4 :) I called the plot on page 122, but I still enjoyed the book. To be fair I read a lot of thrillers and usually see the potential twists coming before they do. Overall a good read, I enjoyed that each character got their own chapters so you could see more into each characters thoughts.

Good debut novel by Sian Gilbert. I got it in my June 2023 BOTM, and I’ve just now gotten around to reading it. I was questioning how it was going to end up until the twist was thrown at me. I wish the ending would have been just a little less predictable though.
