I’m back in my thriller era after taking a little break from them and I was reminded why I took a break from thrillers…
This wasn’t a bad book. It was actually quite entertaining, BUT it was very predictable and lacked the surprise element since I was able to guess the twists. I think I’ve just read so many thrillers that I’ve seen it all so it’s really hard to surprise me.
My main issue with this one is that I had trouble differentiating between the four women - they all had the same voice and were all equally as terrible. Since the chapters alternate between their perspectives, I kept getting them mixed up and caught myself flipping back to the beginning of the chapter to see whose POV I was reading from.
With that being said, I really liked the way this portrayed the effect bullying can have on someone. Reading about what these women did to Poppy in the past made me want to jump through the pages and give Poppy a hug. If you’ve ever been on the receiving side of bullying, this might be a tough one to get through.
✨ locked room (island) revenge thriller
✨ dual timelines + multiple POVs
✨ extremely unlikable characters - only two had any redeeming qualities
⚠️ trigger warnings: bullying, suicide, self-harm, substance abuse/addiction
