I think I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first book. This one was much more character driven, and I enjoyed getting to understand who Binti is as a person a lot more. She felt much more multi-dimensional in this one, and I appreciated the way the author slowed down the action to really let Binti grapple with the consequences of the last book. That grappling and the depth of character it gave Binti really captured me, and I'm looking forward to see what happens in the next one.

Binti returns to her home on Earth, but it's so frustrating that her community/family doesn't support her academic and peacemaking endeavors!! Also, I did not enjoy that cliffhanger!

The middle part of the Binti story, while I read rather than listened to this novella but thankfully I could remember most how the words were said in the audio book, which when immersing yourself in a different world can be important.

Binti decides to go home and takes Okwu with her. Because of her PSTD she thinks that she is broken and must come home and go on her pilgrimage to become an adult woman in the eyes of her Himba tribe.

But coming home is rarely something that goes smoothly especially when you are bring home an enemy of your enemy....

Really enjoyed reading this second part and then diving immediately into the third.

I don’t think I actually knew what’s going on in this book. Maybe I will by the third one?
