Intriguing! If you're looking for sci-fi that's truly different, this one is for you. Would advise starting with book #1, but this second book really holds up. And being novellas, they don't need you to commit too much time - a nice change from some of the long sci-fi sagas I've been reading.

If only the ending didn't feel like a To-Be-Continued!

DID NOT FINISH: 13%

look i started it this 2 years ago at this point and haven't nagged to finish it even thought it's under 200 pages it's just not meant to be. first book was fine but i barely remember that let alone whatever happened at the start of this one

Much better than the first installment. Emotional payoffs feel
earned and the characters have more room to breathe and develop.

More inventive story/stories that follow closely on Binti's debut. She has been at Oomza Uni for a year (I think?), and it's time for her first trip home, to the desert in Namibia on Earth. It's a very eventful homecoming because she was never supposed to leave in the first place, and she brings with her a deadly friend, her schoolmate Okwu, whose species resembles air-floating squids.

I can't say too much about this without spoilers, so I'll just say: (1) Enjoyed it a lot! and (2) I'm eager for Binti, #3.

Took everything I loved about the first book and made it better. Ends on cliffhanger though, so eagerly awaiting final installment.
